2040

In 2040 I'll probably be dead, but if not I'll be retired.  I hope to live in Japan (probably in Sapporo) about half the year (April to November), and spend the coldest months in the warm sun in South-east Asia, eating tropical fruits and spicy curries.  I will probably still play golf, and try fishing.  I will go on long walks and bicycle rides if I'm still feeling fine.

Clearly Japan's population will be smaller, but there will be more immigrants living here as resistance to foreigners decreases.  They will be useful for the workforce and keeping the pension system going.  I hope there will be fewer cars, even better public transport, and cleaner air.  I think more food will be grown on the roofs of city buildings (to cool the air & feed people).  My greatest wish/hope is that a greener energy source will be found to supplement or replace oil.
